Cleaner MSN Messenger Message Log Display

Finding MSN Messenger 6’s XSLT-driven message log display hard to read, I wrote my own. Here’s a sample conversation that imho looks better and is easier to follow. To use this stylesheet:

  • Save msnhist.xslt to {MY_DOCUMENTS}\My Received Files\{MSN_MESSENGER_LOGIN}\History (or wherever your logs are).
  • backup MessageLog.xsl
  • copy msnhist.xslt over MessageLog.xsl

Update: Here’s Enki’s improved XSL.

thanks! it’s a much clearer way to read conversations! anyway, would it be difficult to unite the lines from the same talker?
you could go like this (I add pre hoping that the html will not be encoded away)

Wow, it’s much more elegant than msn’s crappy one. 2k vs 12k! Good work! I made a few changes to suit my tastes though. A bit too spaced out.
