The format of a weblog dictates its writing. I’ve tweaked my software so that I can write shorter posts and not feel compelled to Write Substantial Articles every time I want to update the blog.

I’m going to try and reboot the blog after the relative lack of posts last year. Now that I’m armed with with a much more efficient writing tool, let’s see if I can make myself post at least twice a week.

I’ve been meaning to move from Blogger to Wordpress for some time now. So I finally rolled up my sleeves, opened up a guide, and ran the Wordpress install. Even with the guide, it was easy, the biggest piece of work being tweaking Blogger settings in order to import old Blogger content. That didn’t take much time either. 700+ posts spread over 4 years, imported without a hitch — great going! Awesome work from the Wordpress folks.

Wordpress in its default configuration generates every page dynamically, something I wish to avoid. Until I take a good look at the Staticize plugin, I’m going to stick with this hacked-up arrangement that caches my main page and RSS feed. I’ll be tweaking the site frequently in the next few days, so excuse the dust for a while!

I’ve updated Chaoszone’s RSS feed to use RSS 2. You may see minor breakage, especially if you use a server-side aggregator like Bloglines.

Blogger’s working again! (finally!) Boy, that was one long break, mostly because of this problem, which seemed to affect me for longer than it did most others. Note to self: upgrade web hosting and move to MT asap.

Blogger seems to be back up, after a long-lasting outage involving a template server. Troubles not over yet, though.

Updated the code that drives the RSS feed for ChaosZone! It was earlier tuned to text-only viewers, it now renders HTML-ized text so the output’s easier to read in readers like AmphetaDesk and Radio.
